Ludwig van BEETHOVEN (1770-1827):
33 variations on a waltz by Anton Diabelli, Op. 120
Mihály Berecz is one of the most successful members of the young generation of Hungarian pianists, a sought-after performer throughout Europe, whose repertoire includes both Haydn and Bartók. He can be heard as a soloist in concertos, in solo pieces and as a chamber musician. His singing partner, Katalin Szutrély, an oratorio and song singer, can be admired this time in Schubert songs, in which the fortepiano maintains the balance between the singer and the accompaniment. In the second part, we can hear Beethoven’s powerful solo work, 33 variations written on Anton Diabelli’s minuet.
