Haydneum Concerts in Eszterháza 2025

Summer with the Haydneum is equally rich: at Eszterháza – the Esterházy Palace in Fertőd – visitors can attend eighteen concerts across six weekends from mid-July to the end of August. Each weekend is centered around a specific performer or musical theme, offering a diverse program that includes songs, chamber music (from piano four-hands to string quartets), symphonies, concertos, and masses.

In addition to Haydn’s music, which naturally features in every performance in keeping with the spirit of the venue, audiences will encounter both well-known and lesser-known composers—from Mozart and Boccherini to Werner, from Schubert and Brahms to Goldmark—as well as rarely or scarcely performed works by popular composers. The performers include Hungary’s leading early music specialists, with many returning artists: the Authentic Quartet, József Balog, Andrea Bertalan, Márton Borsányi, Capella Savaria, Márton Egri, Ensemble Variabile, Zsolt Kalló, László Móré, the Orfeo Orchestra, the duo Rita Papp–László Gerhát, the Purcell Choir, Petra Somlai, Katalin Szutrély, and György Vashegyi. Star guests include the Salomon String Quartet, enchanting audiences once again.

The concerts, held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings at 7 PM, feature the venue itself as a star: the Apollo Hall of the Esterházy Palace, where historically informed sound is guaranteed. Thanks to period instruments, performance practices, and technical solutions, everything can be heard as it would have sounded two and a half centuries ago.
