„The nine-year collaboration between the CMBV, György Vashegyi, and the Orfeo Orchestra reaches its pinnacle with a new production of Rameau’s masterpiece, Les Boréades.” Palazzetto Bru Zane The CMBV’s collaboration with Hungarian conductor György Vashegyi, the Orfeo Orchestra, and the Purcell Choir began in 2014 with the recording of Les Fêtes de Polymnie, marking the anniversary of Jean-Philippe Rameau’s death. This partnership now culminates with the recording of another of Rameau’s operas, Les Boréades, followed by an international tour featuring Sabine Devieilhe and Reinoud Van Mechelen in the leading roles. Les Boréades, the composer’s final work, was premiered posthumously at the end of the 20th century and stands as one of the finest French tragédies lyriques of the 17th and 18th centuries. Thanks to the contribution of musicologist Sylvie Bouissou, the CMBV employed historically informed practices that offer a fresh interpretation and new perspective on the score, supported by György Vashegyi, who over the past decade has fostered the CMBV’s research and integrated its findings.
