Coffee has come a long way since it first reached Europe and became more widespread – inspiring composers in the process. But even in the 18th century, people didn’t just go to coffee houses for the bitter, brown drink, but also for the social life and conversation. The Ensemble Fulcrum, a multiethnic young ensemble, will evoke this atmosphere with music by French and German Baroque composers (Bernier, Bach, Guillemain, Telemann) played on period instruments.
