We were deeply saddened to learn of the death on January 2 of Lajos Rovátkay, the outstanding organist, harpsichordist, conductor, musicologist, and member of the Haydneum Scientific Committee.
His career began in Hungary and flourished in Germany after 1956, playing a decisive role in the international dissemination of historical performance practice. As a teacher, researcher, and performer, he served as a guiding light and inspiration for generations.
We cherish his memory and work with gratitude and great respect.
