From summer evening weekends at Eszterh\u00e1za and the internationally renowned 4th Haydneum Eszterh\u00e1za Festival to the autumn and winter concerts at the Liszt Academy, the programme features chamber music evenings, a concert performance of an opera, cantatas and symphonic works alike. Music by Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert and other defining composers of the period will once again be performed on period instruments by outstanding Hungarian and international specialists in historically informed performance practice.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Haydneum Concerts at Eszterh\u00e1za<\/strong> series will fill the magnificent Apollo Hall of Esterh\u00e1zy Palace in Fert\u0151d with atmospheric concerts over four summer weekends, from 10 July to 1 August<\/strong>, on Friday and Saturday evenings. Alongside specially curated programmes, distinguished representatives of Hungary\u2019s early music<\/strong> scene will appear, including Capella Savaria<\/strong>, Ensemble Variabile<\/strong> and the Orfeo Orchestra conducted by Gy\u00f6rgy Vashegyi<\/strong>. Audiences will also be able to enjoy performances by soloists R\u00f3za Bene, Andrea Bertalan, M\u00e1rton Bors\u00e1nyi, L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Gerh\u00e1t, D\u00e1niel P\u00e1lk\u00f6vi, Rita Papp and Petra Somlai<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Haydneum Eszterh\u00e1za Festival will take place for the fourth time<\/strong> at the historic Eszterh\u00e1za venue between 28 August and 5 September<\/strong>. It has now become a tradition for the opening evening to feature a concert performance of one of Haydn\u2019s operas \u2013 this year Orlando paladino<\/em>, first performed in 1782, with Cyrille Dubois<\/strong> in the title role. Chamber music will be represented by Petra Somlai<\/strong>\u2019s Schubert recital and a Haydn programme by the Gringolts Quartet<\/strong>, while the popular themed music history walk with \u00c1d\u00e1m B\u0151sze <\/strong>will also return. The closing concert, devoted to music by Haydn and his contemporaries, will be conducted by the internationally acclaimed Swiss bass and conductor Stephan MacLeod<\/strong>, with fortepianist Olga Pashchenko<\/strong> appearing as soloist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In autumn and winter, Haydneum\u2019s concerts continue at the Liszt Academy of Music<\/strong>. In October, songs and piano works by Chopin will take centre stage in a chamber concert by Aldona Bartnik<\/strong> and Naruhiko Kawaguchi<\/strong>. In the spirit of Advent, cantatas by Bach will be performed by the Purcell Choir and Orfeo Orchestra under the direction of Gy\u00f6rgy Vashegyi<\/strong>, together with outstanding Hungarian soloists<\/strong> and internationally renowned guest artists including Ella Marshall Smith <\/strong>and Christian Immler<\/strong>. The year will conclude with a concert by Ensemble Variabile<\/strong> featuring chamber works by Mendelssohn, Kalkbrenner and Brahms.
